Hi friends... With the almost discovery of the god particle this week, I would like to add to the conversation in this way. First, the Prolog to BLUE EARTH 7 deals in an entertaining way with our obsession with the search for the Theory of Everything (ToE). It poses the question whether the search for science's Holy Grail is really the search for EVERYTHING.
Second, the Prolog deals with something I hope everyone who is interested in the god particle story will understand. That is this concept. Mathematician Kurt Godel in 1931 discovered a theorem that is absolute and levels the playing field for all those who inquire into the nature of reality. It is called Godel's Incompleteness Theorem. It states that the only proof that can be proven is that no proofs can be proven. (Please read that statement again).
Therefore, mathematics leads only to mechanics, not Truth. In a sentence, the Calculus cannot prove that the god particle is God. Interpretation of mathematical data absolutely depends on the a priori assumptions of the person(s) interpreting the data. This is called the process of inference. If we can say anything about human interpretations, it is that human interpretations change over time.
So we can see that it all depends on the pair of glasses you are wearing whether you believe the god particle is God, or whether you believe the god particle is one more feature of the Designer.
